Welcome to Dale May, State Farm, where your needs come first!

As the Halloween season approaches below are some tips to keep you and your little goblins safe this year!

  • Plan your route: Before heading out, plan your trick-or-treating route in a safe and well-lit neighborhood. Avoid areas with heavy traffic or poorly lit streets.

  • Use reflective costumes or accessories: Incorporate reflective elements into your costumes or accessories to make sure you're visible to drivers. This can include reflective tape, glow sticks, or flashlights.

  • Stay on sidewalks and crosswalks: Always walk on sidewalks and use designated crosswalks when crossing the street. Avoid darting out between parked cars.

  • Stay in a group: Trick-or-treat in a group with friends or family members. It's safer and more fun to go with others.

  • Be cautious of strangers: Remind children not to enter the homes or vehicles of strangers, no matter how tempting the offer may be.

  • Check candy before eating: Inspect all candy and treats before consuming them. Discard any suspicious or unwrapped items.

  • Be mindful of decorations: Be cautious around Halloween decorations, such as lit candles or open flames. Stay away from them to avoid accidents or costume mishaps.

  • Follow traffic rules: Teach children to obey traffic signals and signs. Look both ways before crossing the street, and never assume that drivers can see you.

  • Be mindful of pet safety: Some pets can get stressed or anxious during Halloween. Avoid approaching unfamiliar animals and make sure your own pets are secure and away from the front door.

  • Know your insurance coverage: Familiarize yourself with your homeowner's or renter's insurance policy to understand what it covers in case of any accidents or mishaps during Halloween.

I am a long time native of Greenville and have been servicing my State Farm customers as a State Farm agent for 39 years. My office strives to help customers with all their insurance and financial service needs. I enjoy fishing, my horses and dogs, but mostly spending time with my grandchildren. Serving Greenville as a State Farm agent is all about family!
